Gold Lab is a simple Quickspin game from 2016 that has a balanced paytable and doesn't pay very often, and not even the Golden Bonus game with 4 re-spins isn't very rewarding. Theoretical payout is good but this cute little game actually has high variance.

Gold Lab Slot Controls and Setup
Gold Lab is one of the older Quickspin titles, as it was released in 2016, and it's also one of the simplest ones. The game is played on a 5x3 board with 25 paylines, which is a setup all players should be familiar with, and the bets can range from €0.10 to €100. This is an excellent proposition as you pay only €0.004 per payline so you get a lot of value for your money despite a small bet. The choice of bet is the only one you need to make, as everything else is simple and you can just click or tap the Spin button to start the game.
Gold Lab Gameplay and Bonus Features
The game is themed around a mad scientist who found a way to produce gold. He uses four Beakers and each of them can turn into a Gold Scatter that later becomes a Wild. There are also five Gems in the paytable, so this game will mostly appeal to players who enjoy gem themes.
The entire paytable could fall in the same category, as for example the three-of-a-kind wins can be worth 0.60x, 1x or 1.20x, depending on the symbol. Four-of-a-kind wins range from 1.20x to 2x, with the exception of Red Gem that pays 3x. Five-of-a-kind wins are 2.40x in case of four low-win Beaker symbols, and range from 4x to 6x in case of five high-win symbols. Basically, whichever symbol you land you should see a decent win, and the only symbol to stand out is Red Gem, but not significantly. Wild is a paying symbol and it can pay up to 8x.
Each of the four Beakers that are the low-win symbols has a corresponding Scatter, which is the same symbol but with a golden border. Scatters are therefore a bit difficult to spot on the reels. When you land three of them at the same time, you'll trigger 4 re-spins, and the corresponding Beaker symbols will transform into Wilds for the duration of the feature. If you land another Scatter during the re-spins, you'll get another re-spin. If you only land 2 Scatters, they'll actually count as Beaker symbols and can be part of a winning payline.
The game doesn't pay often at all, and most spins are non-winning ones. When wins do land, they'll most commonly be small ones such as 2x your bet or so, and the Scatters are really difficult to land so the re-spins game is rare. Expect to play for several hundred spins before you trigger the bonus feature. And if you thought it must be worth the wait since it's so rare – it's not. Only the first spin is worth something as the Scatters turn into Wilds, but the subsequent re-spins are actually just free spins, and will likely be non-winning ones. Gold Lab is therefore not one of Quickspin's finest games, and is a bit difficult to play despite the decent theoretical payout of 96.09%.
Conclusion and Rating
It takes patience to play Gold Lab as most of the time nothing's going on except for those small wins and your balance is rapidly declining, and only the re-spins game can save it. There are much better Quickspin titles out there, and if you're after a simple experience then perhaps Mighty Arthur could be your game of choice instead of Gold Lab. In any case you'll need a top Quickspin casino, so choose one from our list.
